Does Teriyaki Madness offer international franchise opportunities?

TMAD operates primarily in the United States, with a presence in El Salvador. International growth happens exclusively through master franchise partnerships, where one group develops an entire country or region rather than a single shop. Email [email protected] to talk through availability and requirements for your country or region.

    What it Costs

HOW MUCH IS THE FRANCHISE FEE?

    Single Franchise (1 unit) – $45,000

    Standard Franchise (3 units) – $99,000

Both are disclosed in the Item 5 of the Franchise Disclosure Document.

WHAT ARE THE ONGOING FEES PAID TO TMAD?

Franchisees pay a royalty of 6% of net sales and contribute 4% of net sales to the marketing fund. The royalty covers continued use of the TMAD name and trademarks, access to operating systems, new product development, and ongoing business consulting. Each shop also spends a required amount advertising its grand opening, as outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). Full fee detail is in Items 5 and 6 of the FDD.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO QUALIFY AS A TMAD FRANCHISEE?

We look for candidates with a minimum net worth of $700,000 and at least $200,000 in liquid assets.

We can introduce you to financing partners who can help you with you funding strategy.

Can I finance a Teriyaki Madness franchise with SBA or a 401(k) rollover?

Most TMAD franchisees fund their shops through a mix of personal capital and outside financing. Common routes include SBA-backed loans, conventional bank financing, equipment leasing, and 401(k) business funding rollovers (often called ROBS), which let you use retirement funds without early withdrawal penalties. TMAD doesn’t provide direct financing, but we can point you toward lenders and funding partners who know franchising and know our brand. Every situation is different, so talk with your own financial advisor about what fits.

    The Numbers

What is the average unit volume (AUV) for a Teriyaki Madness franchise?

Per the 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchised shops open at least one year averaged $1,113,760 in gross sales in 2025.

Does Teriyaki Madness share financial performance data with prospects?

Yes. TMAD provides financial performance representations in Item 19 of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), covering gross sales for all qualifying franchised shops across four quartiles and three calendar years (2023–2025).

Where can I find the full Teriyaki Madness Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)?

The FDD is provided to candidates at the beginning of the Education & Approval Process. Complete the Confidential Questionnaire to get started, and the franchise development team will walk you through it.

    The Process

HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I QUALIFY?

As part of the Franchise Process, you’ll need to complete a Confidential Questionnaire (CQ). To receive more information and the CQ, fill out our contact form at the top or bottom of this page or email us directly at [email protected].

WHEN WILL MY FRANCHISE BE AWARDED?

We have a Franchise Process that allow us to provide you with all the information you need to know regarding your Teriyaki Madness franchise opportunity and answer all your questions about franchising. At the same time, we learn all about you to confirm whether you’ll be a good fit for our franchise family. This process has seven steps and takes anywhere from 4–8 weeks. To get started, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN A TERIYAKI MADNESS FRANCHISE?

Twelve months from franchise awarded to grand opening is the goal, and our teams work with you to manage every phase to get you to open. But site availability, lease negotiations, municipal permitting, and construction surprises all affect the clock, and some of those are outside anyone’s control. We’ll tell you where things actually stand throughout, not just what you want to hear.

    Real Estate & The Shop

Where are Teriyaki Madness shops typically located?

TMAD thrives in a variety of locations. The team takes real estate very seriously, working with local brokers, using technology and working with national oversight to ensure high-quality locations are identified quickly. We thrive in busy strip malls near other food options with strong anchors like grocery stores, gyms, and other daily needs drivers.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE SHOP SIZE?

Our sweet spot is 1,500 – 1,800 square feet. Because Teriyaki Madness is enjoyed by 80% of customers who eat “outside the four walls” through takeout, curbside, online ordering, integrated third party delivery and Mad Dash, our franchise owners can lease a modest footprint, reducing their real estate and buildout costs.

IS THERE SUPPORT FOR FINDING AND BUILDING OUT MY LOCATIONS?

You know it! TMAD has a full team of real estate, design, and construction professionals plus national partners to move things quickly. Bialow Real Estate and the TMAD Real Estate Team guide you through site selection, traffic analysis, LOI, and lease negotiation. The Design and Construction Teams then handle floor plans, décor and signage specs, and architect coordination through permit approval and working with your General Contractor (GC) to get your location looking like a neighborhood Teriyaki Shop.

What territories are available for a Teriyaki Madness franchise?

TMAD has territories open across the U.S., with 220+ shops in 40+ states. High-opportunity markets are identified using traffic data, demographic analysis, and competitive mapping. Availability changes constantly, so the fastest way to find out about your market is to ask. You can also check out our territories page.

    Running Your Shop

Do I need prior restaurant experience?

No. Food service or restaurant management experience is a plus in the selection process, but it isn’t required. What matters more: a willingness to work hard, strong business management skills, a positive and fun-loving attitude, a real commitment to customer service, and the drive to build something of your own. We’re here to train and support you whether you’ve been in restaurants before or not.

HOW MANY EMPLOYEES DOES MY SHOP NEED? DO I NEED TO BE THERE EVERY DAY?

Staffing depends on sales volume, but on average it takes 15 to 22 full- and part-time employees to cover shifts across a week. Many TMAD owners run multiple shops with a trusted manager in each, so they aren’t on-site daily. For your first 6 months to a year, though, we strongly recommend being in your shop full-time. That early investment shows up later.

How does Teriyaki Madness handle supply chain?

The Supply Chain Team manages vendor partnerships, volume-based pricing, delivery schedules, and quality control. You don’t negotiate with distributors. The Home Office handles distribution logistics so you can focus on your shop.

Does Teriyaki Madness have a loyalty program and mobile app?

Yes. The TMAD app (iOS and Android) includes the Mad Rewards loyalty program, where guests earn points on every purchase and redeem them for free bowls, appetizers, and drinks, plus app-only offers. The app also powers mobile ordering for pickup and integrated delivery, which drives repeat visits and feeds the off-premise mix.

    Training & Support

WHAT TRAINING DO YOU PROVIDE FRANCHISE OWNERS?

    Three programs before you open:

    • Initial Training — 4 days at the Denver Home Office, which you’ll attend within 3 months of becoming a franchisee
    • Hands-On Training (HOT) — 10 days one-on-one for you and your managers at a corporate location, typically within eight weeks of grand opening
    • New Shop Opening Training — 10–14 days at your shop, surrounding your grand opening

That’s 24+ days of in-person training before your doors open. After that, you and your team get ongoing access to Mad U, TMAD’s online learning platform, with operational training, brand standards, and best practice resources available in English and Spanish. It’s how you onboard new hires, retrain your team, and keep everyone working off the current playbook long after grand opening week is behind you.

What ongoing support can I expect after I open?

Support doesn’t stop at grand opening. You’ll work with a Business Coach by phone, email, and on-site visits, covering KPI reviews, shop assessments, P&L analysis, and performance conversations. The operations manual is updated regularly with new procedures, and ongoing training programs are available throughout the life of your franchise.

How is the brand marketed in my market?

All shops contribute 4% of net sales to a marketing fund that develops brand strategy and materials. Each shop also invests a required amount in grand opening advertising, as outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). Digital, social, in-store promotions, direct mail, and radio are all part of how TMAD shops drive the Madness locally.

HOW IS THE BRAND MARKETED IN EACH LOCATION?

All stores contribute 4% of net sales toward a marketing fund, which is used to develop marketing strategies and materials. Each individual shop also spends a required amount to advertise their grand opening as outlined in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). Digital marketing, content marketing, social media, in-store promotions, direct mail and radio are just some of the channels that TMAD locations utilize to drive the Madness to their locations.
