Flavors abound at New Teriyaki Madness in Owings Mills

I swear, about four to five times a week, my boyfriend and I have the same conversation. It goes something like this:

Him: “What are we doing about dinner?”

Me: “I don’t know, you banned me from the kitchen when I set the tea towels on fire.”

Him: “What do you feel like eating?”

Me: “Food.”

Him: “What kind of food?”

Me: “Tasty food.”

Well, there is an amazing new place to satisfy that tasty food request: Teriyaki Madness. This restaurant opened in Owings Mills in April, and it offers some pretty awesome, tasty food.

The Teriyaki Madness in Owings Mills is the first in Maryland; the next closest to us is the one in Northern Virginia. Teriyaki Madness is a franchise restaurant chain that started in Seattle, Washington, in 2003, and is currently headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The pan-Asian restaurant is occupying 1,500 quare feet, in the Valley Village shopping center.

According to its website, Teriyaki Madness strives to fulfill its guests’ “active lifestyles by providing a fresh alternative, high-quality, and flavorful Teriyaki Madness experience.”

Teriyaki Madness has some pretty incredible dishes. The appetizers offered are chicken eggroll, chicken potstickers, crab Rangoon, edamame, and shrimp tempura. I have to admit, I was skeptical about the edamame, but it was really good and fresh, and prepared so that it had crunch and taste.

Teriyaki Madness offers four amazing salads. They are: chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, chicken breast, and beef teriyaki. All of them are fresh and delicious.

The restaurant serves yakisoba noodles with chicken, beef, tofu or all vegetables. Yakisoba noodles are a typical Japanese street food, made with ramen noodles that have been stir fried and combined with meat and vegetables.

The entrees include chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, orange chicken, tofu teriyaki, and more, all of which come in either a bowl or a plate portion. You start by choosing a base — your options are white rice; brown rice; low-carb, which means all vegetables; yakisoba noodles; or fried rice. Then you choose your protein. Your options are chicken teriyaki, tofu, chicken katsu, orange chicken, spicy chicken teriyaki, chicken breast teriyaki, and beef teriyaki.

You can also get your choice of two proteins as a plate. Entrees come with a side, and you can add on extras — such as 3 ounces of chicken or tofu or 3 ounces of beef — or make it spicy for an additional charge.

The night my boyfriend and I were there I had the chicken breast teriyaki bowl with fried rice and it was full of wonderful flavor. The chicken was tender and tasty, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the service was outstanding. My boyfriend had the spicy chicken plate with stir-fried vegetables. While I could not taste his because of the spices, it looked and smelled delightful, and he said it was very tasty and delicious. Did I mention that the portions are huge? I brought half of mine home; the portions are large and relatively inexpensive.
